It is no secret at this point that the government of the United States is against online casino gambling. Since the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, otherwise known as UIGEA they have tried to keep online casino gambling illegal and have tried to get the banks to back them on it. However, the way that the laws have been written, the banks do not support them and are looking for it to be overturned as well.
According to experts, the UIGEA simply made what was illegal remain illegal. But with most people not really knowing what was originally illegal, it has given the government permission to create a set of laws that pertain to online casino gambling that were never there in the first place. When the first laws were passed that made wire transfers over state lines in reference to illegal gambling illegal the Internet and online casino gambling didn't even exist.
The government has taken that information and tried to make something out of nothing. There were many other countries that followed suit, however, the United Kingdom is now turning back on that position. According to the UK government by September online casino gambling will be completely legal in the United Kingdom. They are trying to get offshore online casinos which are on various islands throughout the world to come back to them so that they can work out some sort of the deal taxation wise.
But the online casino industry is raking in approximately 10 billion pounds a year. The UK parliament would be silly not to try and take advantage of that kind of revenue. The government is already working on various taxation plans that they are trying to work with the various online casinos to implement. The United States would be smart to follow suit.
