RGA Has Issues
The Remote Gaming Association
says that there is going to be
problems in regards to online
gambling that are going to end
up in front of the World Trade
Organization. The fact that the
European Commission is coming
over here to discuss it does not
change that fact.
The passing of the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act, or UIGEA, put us in a
precarious position with the
world of gambling. Many other
countries say that as we still
allow online gambling in the
form of horse racing within our
borders that we are violating
the terms of the agreements.
The US maintains that it is a
separate idea, and that us not
allowing online casino gambling
from outside vendors is simply a
way to protect our residents.
However, everyone else calls it
exclusionary and discriminatory.
The fact of the matter is that
the EC is probably going to find
fault with the UIGEA and say
that it features selective
prosecution. The US is going to
disagree with their findings,
and the case will be elevated to
the WTO. Online casinos
everywhere are hoping that this
might shake the US up a bit and
finally get them to see that the
online casino industry must be
regulated and legalized.
