Cash Issues at Online Casinos
With the passage of the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act, or UIGEA, banks are no
longer legally allowed to
process payments from online
gambling establishments. There
were some that were kind of
doing that before, but now they
are legally bound not to.
Some credit cards like Visa and
MasterCard already had not
wanted to see payments at online
casinos, but were processing
them for the most part. Before
the passage of the UIGEA at
least they were still processing
them – at a rate of close to
100%.
Now more customers are seeing
their cards declined as they are
cracking down on the online
casino industry. Those with
debit cards are having an even
harder time at it as banks are
watching what people are
spending their money on.
They have not yet put the final
touches on the UIGEA where it
makes payment processing
illegal, but many banks aren’t
waiting for the final say. They
have started bumping any charge
that looks like it came from an
online casino as they know the
government will come after them
if they allow it through.
Some of the online casinos are
using e-wallets or other payment
processing as a third party go
between. You can send your money
though them to the online casino
of your choice. This seems to be
working much better for most
people.
