South African IFP and the NGA
Bill
The IFP ( Inkatha Freedom Party
) in South Africa lends its
support to watch over a bill
that would in essence regulate
the online gambling industry.
Professor E.S. Chang gave strong
approval for the National
Gambling Amendment Bill to the
National Assembly, stating that
online gambling is a product of
the internet's presence and
evolution and will always be
there for people who wish to
gamble. Regulating online
gambling should be the goal not
prohibition.
Another side of the coin is the
benefits that the online
casinos, online gambling in
general would bring to the
country. While this boost to the
economy would be welcome, Chang
warned that the poor of their
society should be made aware
that gambling is never
beneficial when you don't have
the available means to do so. It
is entertainment, not a quick
fix to gain money.
The NGA Bill sets certain
criteria for regulation,
mediation and approval of
aspects of online gambling such
as the games, equipments and
player registration.
