Online Casino News: Casino Unions Not Getting Along

The local unions in Atlantic City New
Jersey might want to be careful as to
how they handle their relationships with
each other as well as with the casinos.
As of right now they both have a
different idea as to how they should
represent themselves to the public, with
one feeling that they need a more "in
your face" kind of tactic, while the
other feels that they should take a
calmer and quieter approach.
Local 54 and the United Auto Workers
Union wants to three Atlantic City's
casinos treats their members and their
employees fairly. However, as of late,
they do not feel that this is what is
going on and are fighting to have
something done about it. But where as
local 54 feels that they can go about it
in a professional manner the UAW feels
that they can take their case to the
public and almost bully the casinos into
giving them what they want.
Currently the UAW is sending out flyers
that show gamblers stayed away from the
casinos that they feel are treating
their employees unfairly. Local 54 is
taking the stance that they all
basically want the same thing and that
is to be successful. They say that by
scary away possible patrons from the
casinos it only serves to hurt them the
industry. They are already fighting
against Pennsylvania and New York slot
machines, as well as the entire online
casino community to get business in when
sales really are flagging.
With Atlantic City casino revenue
continually dropping month by month it
would be in the union's best interests
to try and support them somewhat instead
of costing them more business. They
could find that they are putting their
employees out of business because a
casino that doesn't make money doesn't
need people working for them.
