Online Casino News: German Monopoly Under Siege
by Joanne R Tuesday October 27, 2009 at

Germany has an online casino gambling
monopoly. Everyone is aware of it
although Germany insists on referring to
it as something different. They say that
it is not a monopoly rather it is an
attempt for them to protect their
citizens against other online casino
operators that do not reside within
their borders. They say that they can
protect their residents by keeping out
those companies that they are not
familiar with, as well as those that are
not licensed by their government.
However it now seems that within Germany
itself the various states are calling
for a repeal all of their online casino
gambling laws. They say that they want a
national online casino block be lifted,
and that's they are now seeking
intrastate online gambling licensing.
They say that the government is limiting
the amount of business that they can do
because of his van.
Germany is already defending itself
against the European Commission as they
feel that the monopoly must be broken.
They want online casinos throughout
Europe to have access to Germany's
residents. Germany has of course refused
stating that they are protecting their
citizens, children and addicts from the
horrors that are out there.
Right now only horse racing is allowed
in Germany in as far as online casino
gambling is concerned. One other issue
that they are dealing with is that it's
the present online casino treaty expires
at the beginning of 2012 which means the
monopoly would be unprotected after that
date if another law has not been passed
before that time.
