It is Kentuckians That Suffer – Not Governor

Governor Beshear is greedy enough for several people it would seem. He has been fighting to get online casino gambling banned in his state, and even went so far as to try and get the judicial system to give him the URL addresses of the online casino sites as he says that they were illegal and should be awarded to the state.

The online casino industry fought him on it, but a judge ruled last week that the online casinos have one month to completely block Kentucky residents from accessing their sites. All of those people who used to enjoy playing at the online casinos can no longer do so as it is now illegal.

The question however, is who really benefits from this? The state of Kentucky’s government does as they have now created a monopoly within their state. The online casinos will lose the money that comes from the state, but considering all the other sources they have for income – it won’t hurt them too much.

Beshear, who ran on a pro online casino and gambling platform, has done nothing but hurt those that elected him. Those residents who enjoyed sitting down at their computer after a hard day at work to play a little and get the world off their mind? They are out of luck now.

Beshear may have won this round and online casinos may be blocked in his state – but you can guarantee this – he won’t win the next. He should not be too surprised when those that used to spend their time at the online casinos now spend their time getting someone else elected.
