AGA Reviewing Online Casino Industry

The American Gaming Association has announced that they will be reviewing their policy regarding online casino gambling at their next meeting. The AGA is the representative of land based casino companies and does not really get involved in the online casino industry.

However, that may be changing. In the past there has been talk of possibly starting to include the online casino industry in their group, however, the talk was always shot down. It was determined that by including them they would simply be embracing the competition. They felt that it was best to keep them out of their Association as well as out of the country.

They have lobbied hard in the past to try and keep online gambling illegal in the states, but according to Frank Fahrenkopf, the group’s president, a new policy might be in order. He says that with land casinos continuing the way they have been and online casinos moving forward – even in this economy – that it might be time to take another look at the policies that they have created so far.

They think that there is a very real possibility that Congress is going to make online casinos legal and regulate the online gambling industry. This means that it would behoove them to move faster rather than slower on the embracing of the industry.
