Is is worth Not Having Online
Gambling?
The debate here is about how
much the US would have to pay if
the countries that are seeking
compensation should win, and who
is right. Antigua and many
European countries are
challenging the United States
and in effect the Bush
administration on how much money
their internet gambling bill has
cost these other countries.
The WTO has been looking into
the allegations and have given
the US an extension on their
deadline. The US says that they
only owe $500,000 when their
opponents are talking about
amounts in the hundreds of
billions. The US is trying to
get out of this for the least
amount of money possible and the
other countries want what has
been taken away from them. They
have to look at the fact that
the Bush administration has
never budged on anything having
to do with this bill and it is
unlikely that the laws will
change; which is another aspect
of what the countries are trying
to do.
They say that the US allowed
this to come in and since they
did that they shouldn't be
trying to ban internet gambling
now, and the US says that they
never intended to allow foreign
gambling within the United
States. This is going to be a
battle for the ages and many
people have and
will take their turn to weigh in
on the impacts of this law that
is has been passed.
