Online Casino News:
Online Casino Bust in Tampa
by Joanne R Sunday November 8, 2009 at

The first thing that comes to mind when
thinking of Florida is easily Disney
World. Next, you might think Universal
Studios, or Sea World, and then
inevitably the brain goes to sports like
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Miami
Dolphins. For those who enjoy gambling,
they might initially think of the
Seminole Hard Rock Casino, or the new
slot machines down in Broward and
Miami-Dade counties. However, you're
probably not going to think about online
casinos, and you're definitely not going
to think about them in conjunction with
Tampa.
However, according to Tampa police there
was an online casino business running on
the outskirts of downtown Tampa. There
is a road that leads into downtown
called Nebraska Avenue, and on it was an
Internet café by the name of Sweeper
Sweepstakes. This café was doing so well
that the Tampa police started to wonder
why it was doing so well.
The fact of the matter was that they
were running an online casino access
point for players and they were paying
their customers in cash, which is
obviously against the law. According to
police the illegal online casino
gambling house was paying out their
customers in cash when they were lucky
enough to win online.
The undercover officers, posing as
patrons, entered the business and
started to play at the online casino.
The attendants helped them get started
and showed them the different games that
they could play at the online casino.
Then when they won, the attendant paid
them out in cash. Police then arrested
both of the attendants at the online
casino site, and charged them with
keeping a gambling house.
