Online Casino News:
Another Backer in Support of
Online Casinos
by Joanne R Sunday November 29, 2009 at
11:06 PM
The push to get online casinos legalized
again just got another push from another
Congressman. It would appear that the
more momentum this bill gains, the more
people want to be a part of it. The bill
is working to overturn the online casino
gambling ban that was passed in 2006 as
part of the Safe Port Act. The Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or
UIGEA, makes the payment processing from
and to online casinos illegal.
The latest Congressman to jump on board
is Democratic Representative Jared
Polis. Polis wrote an article for the
Roll Call News where he said that online
casino gambling needed to be made legal
again, and that everyone should be
supporting this bill. He said that the
idea of legalizing online casino
gambling would lead to a bevy of ills is
simply ridiculous.
He claims that the Republicans and the
Conservatives have been saying that
online casino gambling will lead to
compulsive gambling and loose morals
among our youth – and that this is
unproven and uncalled for accusations
against an industry that has controls
put in place so that this does not
happen.
He says that the online casino industry
is already taking steps to protect our
youth and those that have issues when it
comes to online casino gambling. He says
that by regulating an industry that is
still being played you are simply
protecting their players instead of
leaving them out there. He also points
out that for every year that the
American people are not allowed to
legally play at online casinos that we
are costing the country more than $100
billion a year in possible revenues.
