Online Casinos Coming or
Going?
The online casino industry is
confused as to where they stand
now, as are many Americans. With
President Bush in office the
online casino industry knew that
they didn’t stand a chance of
legalization and regulation.
They also knew that if John
McCain had been voted in, it
would have been four more years
of the same thing, and they
would have to wait to see if
they could get legalized after
that.
However, with the election
bringing in Barack Obama instead
as our 44th president, the
online casino industry is
starting to feel hopeful that
they might be able to return to
the US. With the passage of the
Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act, many online
casinos left the US in search of
friendlier shores. Now with
Obama in office, there might be
a chance for them.
Many online casinos are thinking
that they might be able to come
back to the US once Obama is in
office. They know that online
casino gambling is not going to
be a huge priority for the
president-elect, and that he has
much bigger issues to worry
about – but they also know that
his administration is going to
be much friendlier towards the
cause.
Even the recent passage of the
US Treasury’s rules for the
UIGEA, a last ditch effort by
Bush to mess the country up even
more, did little to dampen the
enthusiasm of the online casino
industry. The new regulations
will force banks to change their
agreement letter to their
clients, but not much else.
