Land Based Companies are a Real
Threat
The online casino industry has recently
started realizing that their biggest
obstacle right now might not be the
Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act, or UIGEA. Instead, they might want
to put their focus on the land based
casinos that are vehemently against the
passage of any bill that would overturn
the UIGEA. That is of course, those that
aren’t working both sides of the fence
as many of them are.
The biggest problem is that the land
based casinos are coming at the existing
online casino industry from two
different ways. They are lobbying
Congress to keep online casino gambling
illegal, while at the same time they are
working to create their own online
casino gambling sites. This is a real
issue for the online casino industry
because they are just not sure where
they should put their focus to fight.
If they put all of their focus on
fighting to overturn the UIGEA then when
it happens all these name brand land
based casinos will now have the
opportunity to open their own versions
of the very thing that they are fighting
against. The problem with this is that
with the name brand online casinos
people will flock to them simply because
they are a name that they can trust.
There are those that are currently
playing at online casinos that will
switch because of the name recognition
and also because they want to see what
the fuss is about.
Much of the online casino industry has
to do with what is new and exciting, and
those that are currently participating
in online casino gambling are going to
be looking for that. This leaves the
current industry fighting a battle on
both sides that they can’t really win.
