May 26, 2009 Online Casino News:
Microgaming Drops Intertops
Microgaming had reacted to the online
gambling ban by dropping all US
customers from their base. They had
informed all of their affiliates that if
they were interested in participating in
online gambling with US customers that
they would need to leave the online
casino software giant and find another
system to power them. Because of this,
and because they did not want to lose
Microgaming as a software platform, many
online casinos left the US market with
them.
But one online casino thought that there
might be a better way. They figured that
if Microgaming was not going to be part
of the US contingency, there was no
reason why they couldn’t keep their foot
in the door while following Microgaming
at the same time. Intertops thought that
they had found the ideal solution, but
it would seem that Microgaming disagreed
with the online casino.
Intertops created two online casinos.
The online casino company has had a
relationship with them for years, so
they simply changed one of their
offerings to another software provider
and left the rest with Microgaming. They
kept their Microgaming online casino and
named it Green Casino and then opened
another division, had it powered by Real
Time Gaming, and called it the Red
Casino This should have made everyone
happy.
Instead, Microgaming dropped Intertops
Casino. They said that the online casino
insisted on accepting US customers and
therefore they had to cut ties. Some
felt that the online casino software
company was simply doing it to save face
with the US government so that when the
ban was lifted they would be able to get
a license here.
