March 6, 2009 Online Casino News:
Online Casino Gambling Just Got
Warned
Both the online casino and land based
casino industries have just gotten
warning that there is an application for
the iPhone that could help players
cheat. Gambling regulators in Nevada are
sending out a warning that there is a
card counting program that is available
on the phone that could help their
players cheat the dealers.
Card counting itself is not illegal per
Nevada gambling laws, however, using a
device to help you count cards is
illegal. For online casinos it is even
more difficult because there is very
little they can do, if anything, to stop
it from happening. The land based
casinos have a little more control over
the situation however.
The program can be used through the
iPhone or the Apple iPod Touch, and it
illegally helps players count cards so
that they can beat the house when
playing blackjack. Even though it is a
felony to use the program, many get away
with it because players can use the
device to listen to music while they
play making it difficult to know when
someone is cheating or not.
The California Bureau of Gaming Control
was the first to become aware of it when
the operators of a northern aboriginal
casino warned them. They then sent out a
memo to everyone else warning them as
well. Not only does the program give the
true count of cards, it does it much
more accurately than previous programs
or those trained in counting cards.
Those that are caught using the program
could be detained and/or arrested for
using it. |
