NHL Not Worried
There are a lot of sports out there that
get very upset whenever you mention
online casino gambling. The National
Football League and the National
Basketball Association have people
working diligently on Capital Hill
trying to keep online casino gambling
illegal. However, the National Hockey
League seems to not have a care in the
world and actually seems to be promoting
online casino gambling instead.
The NHL not only doesn’t seem to care
but are actually promoting it. When the
Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act, or UIGEA, was passed, the online
casino gambling industry was hurt hard
by those companies that pulled out. It
was also difficult for those that were
working to get online casinos legal
again because of groups like the NFL
that were working hard against them.
But the NHL has never gotten involved.
Instead, now we see the NHL promoting
the online casino industry, and Bill
Daly, NHL Deputy Commissioner said that
they have no problem with their hockey
players having a relationship with, or
promoting the online casino industry.
They say that they will not intercede,
and the online casino community could
not be happier.
What is interesting about this is the
lack of fear that the NHL has towards
the online casino industry. The NBA and
the NFL seem to feel that it threatens
their franchises in some way, but the
NHL is definitely more secure within
itself. The hockey association has made
it very clear that the government has a
problem with it, but they think it is
their problem to have and they are not
going to get involved.
