March 10, 2009 Online Casino News:
Study Shows Billions Could Be Made
PricewaterhouseCoopers has recently
released a study where they show that
the United States could stand to earn
billions of dollars for the economy if
they legalized and regulated online
casino gambling. The study showed that
simply overturning the Unlawful Internet
Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, and
taking control of the online casino
industry could do a lot to help the
country out right now.
The study said that by refusing to
regulate the online casino industry they
are throwing money away. In spite of the
passage of the UIGEA, online casino
gambling continues to flourish, coming
in at higher numbers than it did before
the ban was passed. They are also
spending money on prosecuting those
online casino companies that are
accepting US players – which is more
money that could be saved.
The firm had looked at online casino
gambling before, and had found that
there was a benefit back in 2007 to
legalizing and regulating the online
casino industry. However, the numbers
are much higher now as the group did not
realize how much the online casino
industry would grow even after the
passage of the UIGEA. They have also
included the amount saved by not
prosecuting the online casino companies
and enforcing a bill that no one seems
to want.
In addition, there are millions of
dollars that could be saved from not
having to pay the other countries like
Antigua for keeping the ban active. The
World Trade Organization has already
ruled in their favor and you can be sure
that others will follow.
