March 24, 2009 Online Casino News:
Banished No More – Almost
The online casino industry is eagerly
waiting for the day when the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or
UIGEA, is passed and they can return to
the fold of their US online casino
customers. They know that at some point
– whether it is this year or next –
there will be a call to the online
casino industry to return and to start
allowing US players to participate at
their sites.
However, they are not alone in their
anticipation, for the players are
waiting just as eagerly, if not more so.
There are some games out there that
online casino players just don’t have
access to right now, and it is killing
them. They are waiting for regulation to
occur because they want to play those
games that were taken from them with the
passage of the Act.
One big player in the online casino
industry is software provider
Microgaming. They are easily one of the
most popular online casino game
providers out there, and their games are
coveted among players. When they pulled
out of the online casino industry in the
US, players were simply heartbroken, and
although they have not been gone for
long – for some it seems like an
eternity.
However, they don’t want to be involved
in the mess of the UIGEA so they pulled
out rather than face criminal
prosecution. If the US was to overturn
the ban, Microgaming is sure to be one
of the first ones back to offer their
services. Those that have stayed will
soon see a lot of competition from the
online casinos that choose to return,
but they will also see many more players
returning as well.
