March 13, 2009 Online Casino News:
Online Gambling Awareness More
Important
The United States government has it
somewhat backward. There has been a lot
of focus on the fact that online casino
gambling needs to be illegal, and they
pushed through the Unlawful Internet
Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, but
they didn’t really think about any of
it. They were looking the wrong way.
They thought that by focusing on keeping
online casino gambling illegal that they
would stop it. Instead, it simply got
worse and people kept visiting the
online casinos in droves. What they
should have been doing was looking at
regulation and awareness instead.
The online casino gambling industry can
see how high their numbers are climbing,
and they can see that there is nothing
like people who are dedicated to the
cause. However, many of these people are
fighting a very real online casino
gambling addiction and are not getting
the help that they need because the
focus is on the wrong thing.
According to experts, problem online
casino gambling has simply exploded
lately – and it is getting worse every
day. They say that the new
administration needs to raise awareness
levels of the problem, instead of
putting focus elsewhere like the old
administration did. They say that
instead of focusing on the UIGEA they
need to put in “safeguards and awareness
programs” that will take care of those
that are participating.
They say that many individual states
have seen the problems that are arising
already, and are starting to try and
come up with solutions to the problem.
However, more needs to be done before
online casino gambling becomes legal
again.
