June 9, 2009 Online Casino News: Open Industry Good and Bad for Online Casinos

There has been talk of the online casino industry opening up, which is good for the online casino industry, but is bad for those that are already there. With big companies such as Harrah’s and MGM reporting that they are working on their own versions of their sites, this leaves many of the smaller, lesser known online casinos wondering what will become of them.

The online casino industry is aware that if the flood gates are opened that they will be able to run their businesses much freer than now, thus enabling many more online casino patrons to come to the industry. But they are also aware that this means that there will be a lot more online casinos vying for those new clients. They know that it isn’t as if they will end up with a ton of new clients, they will also end up with a ton of new online casinos.

The online casino industry is currently made up of those that are operating, but doing so in trying to keep under the radar of the US government. They don’t allow players to come to them if they are US players, or they are quiet in their dealings with them if they are. But if it is made legal, then the online casino industry will now be able to offer all the same benefits to the other players that they now deny those US players.

Many in the industry say that they are torn as to how they feel about the legalization of the online casino industry. They say that they are excited, but they are also concerned for what it will ultimately mean for them.
