June 14, 2009 Online Casino News:
EU Wants Access to US Online Casino
Gambling
When Ex-President Bush was in the White
House, the European Union said that they
would be willing to hold off on
proceeding with their complaints to the
World Trade Organization, or WTO. They
did this in good faith as the US made it
seem as if we were willing to work with
them on legalizing the online casino
industry in our country. However, we all
now know that there was no plan to do
that, ever.
So now that President Barack Obama is in
office, they are asking the same of him.
They say that if we legalize online
casino gambling in our country and allow
them access to our citizens that they
will not go after us through the WTO.
The EU says that unless we come into
compliance with our online casino laws,
then they will have to move forward with
their complaint.
The EU says that it is not just the US
that has come into their sites – they
have informed several countries that if
they do not comply they are in trouble
as well. There are many countries that
either do not allow online casino
gambling either, or they hold a monopoly
within their country. So far, however,
there has not been any movement toward
fixing the online casino problem, and
although Obama says that he wants to see
foreign relations fixed – we haven’t
seen it in this industry.
The US should legalize online casino
gambling. If they don’t they are looking
at sanctions handed down by the WTO,
despite the fact that they are not doing
what the US’s citizens would like to see
done.
