SportingBet Back on Feet
The online casino
SportingBet.com saw a drop in
their shares after two of their
employees were detained while
visiting Turkey. The employees
were in their London based
office, and had been in Turkey
on vacation when they were
arrested.
The employees were not together
at the time of the arrest, and
are currently being held by
police. The two are among
several other people who were
affiliated with their Turkish
online casino – Superbahis.
Sportingbet.com had been working
on reducing their operations
over there the past few months,
and many of the other detainees
were related to the online
casino’s ex-marketing partner
Maslin Properties. They said
that though they had not
received any formal
clarification of the event, they
were aware that they had been
detained.
Initially shares went down for
the online casino, but they have
since bounced back. They are
aware that some forms of
gambling are not legal in
Turkey, but they know that
casino gambling is.
