No Agreement Yet
It seems that the US is still
dragging its heels on coming to
an agreement with the tiny
country of Antigua. The US has
not arranged settlement of the
debt yet, and no matter what the
country does, the US blocks them
at every turn.
The country has bent over
backwards to compromise with the
US, but it is unlikely that they
will have come to an agreement
related to the
online gambling
damages that have been awarded
Antigua. The country’s lead
attorney says that they will
most likely not be in agreement
by Friday.
Their attorney says that the US
is unwilling to make any fair
offers, and the World Trade
Organization is still waiting to
see if they will meet the
deadline. They are going to have
to look toward further legal
action in order to make it
happen.
The US was found guilty of
acting against the free trade
compacts by passing its ban of
online gambling from outside
online casinos – but yet still
allows it to happen in the US.
Outside countries such as
Antigua are fighting for fair
treatment under the
circumstances – but the US
refuses to budge.
The small country had asked for
$3.4 billion, but was only
awarded $21 million. The US
won’t even settle that however.
