July 8, 2009 Online Casino News: Malaysia Dead Set Against Online Casino Industry
Malaysia has not made it any secret that they are against online casinos and want them eliminated in their country. They have gone to great lengths already to take care of that, and are still fighting the fight. They report that in this year alone, they have already raided almost 3,000 online casino premises.
Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, the country’s Minister for Home Affairs, says that they have already arrested more than 2,600 people for online casino gambling, and have closed on 2,900 locations up until May of this year. They say that with them only half way through the year, by the end of the year they expect that number to be significantly higher.
They say that it is very important to them to get rid of online casino gambling as it is a blight on the country. They say that it will lead to other crimes as people try to fund their online casino gambling addiction. They are determined to remove the prospect of the online casino gambling problem before it becomes a problem for them that they cannot handle.
They believe that the number of arrests that they have made so far have already been a deterrent to those that were participating in the online casino industry or were thinking on getting involved in it. They say that they also know that there are those that will go further underground, but they say that they are working closely with the Criminal Investigation Department so that they have more resources available to them to eliminate online casino gambling.
