Ireland Embracing Online
Casinos
The United States’ passing of
the Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Ban could be the
best thing to happen to Ireland
since sliced bread. They are
very excited about the UIGEA
because this means that a lot of
the companies that were looking
to set up a home base in the US
are now considering Ireland
instead.
In fact, to make the deal even
sweeter, the country is now
considering offering incentives
to bring them in. A committee
that the government formed to
study
online casinos and the
impact that they could have on
the country found that they
could have a very positive
impact on them.
They are now discussing offering
favorable tax rates and
exemptions to those online
casinos who want to make them
their home base. The committee
found that by the passing of the
UIGEA, a whole host of economic
opportunities are presenting
themselves to the country, and
the committee recommends
exploiting them as soon as
possible.
They want to find those online
casino operators that might be
looking to relocate and offer
them their country instead. They
have already had large companies
such as Google and Yahoo move to
their tiny country and now they
believe that they can convince
others to follow suit.
