Online Casino News:
Waiting
Until March

The online casino industry is going to
have to wait a little longer for a
ruling in the Kentucky online casino
gambling debate. The online casinos were
hoping that they would have a decision
by Thursday on the case, but this is not
to be the case. Many think it has to do
with the additional names that have been
added onto the case, and that is
probably why the court needs more time
to hand down their decision.
What had happened was that Governor
Steve Beshear of Kentucky had gotten the
idea that he was going to seize 141
online casino domain names as they were
allowing people to gamble within his
state. He said that he was trying to
protect them from the dangers of
gambling, but really he just wanted to
create a gambling monopoly within his
state.
The online casino community took him to
court and Beshear won. The online casino
community appealed and the Appeals Court
ruled in their favor saying that the
state did not have the right to seize
the domain names. The state said that
they would take their case to the
Supreme Court and they have. This is
where it sits now – awaiting a decision.
Both parties had plead their cases in
October, but then the state said that
they had more information that linked US
citizens to the online casino sites – so
many think this is why the delay is
necessary.
The online casino community says that
they are not worried by the delay and
that as the case currently sits in their
favor it is not a big deal for them to
have to wait a little longer for a
decision. Now they have to wait until
March to see what the courts decide.
