Phil Ruffin has long had a reputation in the gambling industry of really knowing what he was talking about, and really understanding the ins and outs of the industry as a whole. There are many people who are knowledgeable when it comes to land based casinos, and there are those that truly understand the online casino industry – but not many people can understand how both work separately, and how they might be able to work together.
Truly Ruffin is that guy. Ruffin is a billionaire from Kansas who owns Treasure Island and is co-owner of Trump International Tower. He believes that not only is the online casino industry going to be legalized very soon, but he also thinks that the land and online casinos will eventually be able to work together toward the common goal of success.
He has taken out a $3 billion bet and said that he is that sure that by 2020 the Las Vegas Strip will be booming and he is willing to put his money where his mouth is. He says that between 45 and 50 million people will be the hotels, and that all the excitement and glamour of Vegas will have returned.
He is excited about the online casino industry being legalized as he says that it is like apples and oranges. He says that the online casinos might offer the convenience and gambling in your pajamas kind of factor, but that they cannot offer the shows and events that the land based casinos can. In fact, he felt that the online casinos will actually encourage more people to play at the land based casinos.
