Macau Feeling Pinch as Well
When the world’s economy continues to go
downhill, you have to expect that at
some point every industry is going to
feel the pinch. Many casinos first
thought that they would not be subjected
to it, but they were proved wrong. They
were mostly usurped by the online casino
industry, who then thought that they
were immune, but of course were not.
But in all the gambling arenas, the
online casino industry is still doing
better than most of the others. Now they
have started affecting Macau as well.
The gambling island no doubt thought
that they could stay above the
recession, but according to their recent
numbers they are feeling the pinch. The
city’s gaming revenue has dropped 7.3%
over the past three months and experts
expect it to drop even further.
Experts say that due to the influx, and
money saving way of gambling that online
casinos bring to the market that the
city may see an additional drop of 14%
this year in their gambling revenue.
They give these numbers because this is
normally their busiest time of year, and
instead they are dropping below what
they do in their off months.
With so many able to access online
gambling through their computers – and
able to pick from a plethora of online
casino sites, people just aren’t
spending the money to travel to places
like Macau in order to gamble. Experts
say that the online casino industry has
hurt many places for if it was not an
option, gamblers would still find a way
to get the money to go to the place
nearest them to actually gamble live.
