January 29, 2009 Doyle’s Room Going US

When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was passed, there were many online casinos that chose to leave the United States and only allow non US residents to play at their sites. This left many players wondering where their online casino had gone and scrambling to find somewhere else to play.

However, now that President Obama has been sworn in, and there is talk that his administration is looking to bring in online casino gambling again, there are many online casinos looking to re-enter the US gambling market. With Microgaming taking the stance that they are not going to allow their online casinos to be a part of the US gambling community, many of their casinos are looking to trade to another provider.

Doyle’s Room is one of those online casinos. They have been a Microgaming casino all this time, but now they are making the switch to Cake Poker because they want to re-enter the US online casino market. They recently sent out emails to all of their patrons letting them know that they would be returning to the US as an option and that they would be having a massive change on the site.

They are not alone as Microgaming made the announcement as they were hoping to avoid any kind of legal hassle from the US government, but in doing so they have alienated many of their online casinos. With studies showing that more than half of all online gambling coming from US players, now is not necessarily the time to tell your online casinos that they can’t take them anymore.
