We have watched them place bets on how good the commercials will be for the upcoming Super Bowl, we have watched them bet on whether or not Kanye West will embarrass himself at the Grammy’s, and now we get to watch as everyone and their brother starts placing bets on the upcoming Academy Awards.
The online casino Bodog has the motto that everything can be bet on and so they offer most of the possibilities. Their latest is the claim that as the Golden Globes choices have usually turned out to be front runners for the Academy Awards, this year is proving to be no different.
Avatar has emerged as the top pick for both Best Film and Best Directing, and many think it will do just as well if not better at the Oscars as it did at the Golden Globes. The online casino is offering 1/3 odds which means they have a 75% chance of winning the awards. James Cameron is also up for Best Director and he is looking at odds of 3/2 – which means that he is beating out Precious Director Lee Daniels who is at 35/1 and Inglourious Basterds Director Quentin Tarantino who is looking at 22/1 odds.
The Blind Side’s Sandra Bullock and Crazy Heart’s Jeff Bridges are the favorites for Best Actress and Actor, with odds of 2/5 and 4/25 respectively. Precious’ Mo’Nique and Inglourious Basterds Christopher Waltz are favored for Best Supporting Actress and Actor – with Waltz coming in at -120 and Mo’Nique coming in at -1000. It should be interesting to see how close they come.
