February 20, 2009 Online Casino News:
Internet Raids in Virginia
Most times when people think of big
online casino gambling operations, they
don’t necessarily think of Virginia as
their first guess. For something like
illegal online casino gambling it seems
more like New York, Las Vegas, basically
somewhere that people would think of
that sort of thing to do. However, it is
always the quiet ones…
According to police, they seized over 60
computers being used for illegal online
casino gambling when they raided four
internet cafés yesterday. They raided
the rural town of Martinsville, Virginia
and came up with the illegal online
casino gambling computers as well as
almost $3,000 in cash. They also took
some office equipment that they said was
used in the operation.
According to Lane Perry, who is Henry
County’s Sheriff, they had begun an
investigation into the online casino
gambling location and they spent some
time looking into it before making their
raid on the establishment. They ended up
executing four search warrants and took
sixty six computers in addition to the
cash.
Patrons could play at the online casino
by swiping a card in exchange for a
certain amount of money. He said that he
did not know whether they used credit
cards for the processing of transactions
or not, but that the amount paid was
transferred to tokens that they would
use on the machines. They then used
those tokens to place their bets on the
games and if they won, they got cash
back in return. |
