February 24, 2009 Online Casino News:
Utah Cracking Down
The state of Utah has never been a fan
of any kind of gambling, and online
casino gambling ranks right up there
with the kind of stuff that they really
don’t want going on in their state. For
the most part they believe that
gambling, online casino or land based,
is immoral and should be shunned at all
costs.
Therefore it came as no surprise that
they would pass a law making it
specifically illegal to participate in
online casino gambling at these internet
cafés that have been turning up
everywhere. They have been working at
eliminating the illegal online casino
gambling activity by cracking down on
the cafés but they would show up with
warrant in hand and find themselves
unable to prosecute.
They have now passed a law making it
clear that the type of online casino
gambling going on in these places was
illegal. Many of the cafés would have a
system where you went in and bought a
prepaid card that they could use in the
computer. They would then use the
computer for illegal gambling
activities.
But since “fringe” betting was not
necessarily illegal, now they have made
it so. The bill would make it illegal
and cut out any loopholes that remain
that are allowing them to participate in
the illegal online casino gambling. The
bill has already received a lot of
support and is expected to pass without
incidence. The process of getting around
the law by only offering the cards and
not actually offering them online casino
gambling will now be illegal under the
new law.
