Online Casino News: Hearing Scheduled Regarding Online Casinos
by Joanne R Tuesday, December 8, 2009  at 11:16 PM

Online casino gambling enthusiasts will be pleased to know that there has finally been a hearing scheduled for December 3rd for their case. This comes as a surprise, albeit a welcome one, for online casinos and the industry. They have been fighting long and hard to get online casino gambling legalized, and have suffered many setbacks along the way.

While Rep. Barney Frank has been working to get it legalized, he has also been on the House Financial Services Committee which has kept him very busy because of the state of the economy. So to finally see a hearing set to discuss online casino hearing – it is a big deal for the industry.

According to reports, Frank will be leading the questions from those that are for and against legalizing the online casino industry. Witnesses will be testifying in regards to the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (IGRCPEA) and the Reasonable Prudence Regulation Act (RPRA). Frank himself introduced the bills earlier this year and has been trying to move forward on them.

The IGRCPEA simply calls for regulated online casino gambling, and a transparency that would keep everyone honest and safe. The RPRA is simply trying to delay those regulations that would go into place come December 1st for the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA. Many say that if the first one was passed that there would not actually be any need for the second, but with the deadline for UIGEA regulation implementation before the hearing date, it is most likely not going to happen.
