Gambling Industry Unscathed
Some in the online casino
industry are saying that the
reports of the economy battering
them are untrue or at least
exaggerated. Some say that they
have continued showing a profit
even through these worst of
times. They argue that people
are always going to want to
gamble, and now especially they
are going to be seeking a way to
avoid the issues that bother
them on a daily basis.
They say that the online casino
industry will never fold the way
that some other industries have
because they are a leisure
industry. They claim that with
people looking now more than
ever to escape their daily
troubles that the online casino
industry is one of those in a
unique position to be able to do
that for them.
William Hill, the well known
online casino, announced on
Monday that the recession is not
hurting them at all. They said
that they have seen an increase
in the amount of money that is
coming into them, proving that
the online casino industry has
nothing to hide. They say that
they currently have more than
2,250 betting shops and they are
all doing well.
The online casino reported that
their total gross win rose 9% in
the past few months, over what
they won last year. The gross
win from their shops was up 10%
in the 15 weeks to October 14th.
Their high rollers were not
doing as much business – their
gross win had dropped 30% - but
their interactive business was
up 21%. They say that although
they are not “recession proof” –
no one is, but they are doing
well for themselves despite the
country’s problems.
