Don’t Count Them Out Yet

Many thought that Sportingbet would not do so well this year, but they have proved everyone wrong. With the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, many thought that there wasn’t much of a chance for the online casino. Many online casinos found that they could not survive without the additional income that came from their US players.

Many online casinos simply closed their doors, but others like Sportingbet chose to go another route. They took what they learned from the passage of the UIGEA and decided that they needed to change the way they looked at the online casino industry. Instead of focusing on one market, they needed to focus on all of them. With the passage of the UIGEA, the online casino lost 2/3rds of their revenue, and they won’t ever get themselves in that place again.

They are currently seeking licenses in other countries like Romania, so that if another country were to choose to take such drastic steps they would be prepared to simply shift their focus to one of their other locations. In taking this approach, the online casino has already seen a 30% revenue growth in the first two months of their financial year.

Not only that, but they also expect that their revenue will increase even more when they unveil their live video streaming of sports events next week. In addition to Romania, they are looking at moving into Latin America and South Africa as well. They are awaiting licensing and then will be moving forward from there.
