Online Casino News:
UK Freezes List
by Joanne R Friday August 14, 2009 at

The United Kingdom has a White List
which is their version of a clean room.
The list has the names of those online
casinos that have met their regulatory
checks and balances and comply with
their standards to be able to do
business in the UK. Both the operator of
the online casino and the licensing
authority must meet strict guidelines
for them to be able to get on the list,
and online casinos can not do business
in the country unless they are on it. It
is a hard spot to get and one that is
most coveted.
However, the UK has frozen their White
List as they say that they need to
review what changes have been going on
inside the online casino industry
lately. They say that they are upset
that there is a lack of compliance among
those on the list with European Union
regulations regarding trade as it
pertains to the online casino industry.
British politicians say that it has
become a one way street as they allow
other countries to offer online casino
gambling but then they are not permitted
to do the same.
They said that they will not be adding
any more online casinos to the list in
the near future, and that they are
adjusting the conditions and rules that
it takes to get on the list. They said
that there will be no more expansion
until at least the beginning of next
year. They want to study the UK Gambling
Act before they make any more additions
or changes to the White List.
They said that when they are done making
their changes and done reviewing the
various acts that they would start to
allow online casinos to enter the list
again, but that for now the list is
indeed frozen.
