Online Casino News:
Tribe Trying for Online Casino
by Joanne R Thursday August 27, 2009 at

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians is
trying to get an online casino legalized
in the state of California. It is well
known that the state has been
considering allowing intrastate online
casino gambling and with the tribe
pushing for it to happen there is a good
chance that the state will see it come
to fruition this year. But it is not
without its opponents.
The online casino would cater mostly to
poker players, but there are those
within the state that think that adding
in an online casino is a bad idea. One
of those is the California Tribal
Business Alliance also known as CTBA –
and they have sent a letter to the state
legislature letting them know that they
are displeased with the idea of it.
The Penchanga Bandof Mission Indians are
also upset with the idea of an online
casino. They sent a letter as well to
legislators telling them that they have
a “standing opposition to online poker
since proposals first surfaced last
year, out of concerns for the
far-reaching legal, political and policy
consequences of an expansion of this
magnitude.”
The Morongo Band is pushing for the bill
to be passed before the year closes on
September 11th – but it looks like this
might not be possible. The legislators
say that they need more time to look
over the bill and discuss the possible
ramifications for adding in an online
casino to the state. They say that the
amount of time left before they close is
just not enough and they will really be
pushing it to make that happen.
