Online Casino News:
Sports Leagues are Concerned
by Joanne R Thursday August 13, 2009 at

With so many online casinos looking to
leave the United Kingdom now, sports
leagues are worried about possible
sponsorship opportunities. They are also
worried about how this will affect the
online casino gambling itself and how
they are going to have access to the
same information that they used to.
With the online casinos under the UK’s
arm, they were required to talk to the
sports leagues about suspicious betting,
and now they will not have to. They will
now be out of their reach and will not
have to comply with the same rules and
regulations that they had to – thus
making it much more difficult for those
sports leagues to ensure a fair and safe
game.
They would hope that these online
casinos would feel like they should
still disclose suspicious betting
patterns but as they no longer have to
they may not feel that it is their
responsibility to the sport. They say
that it will be much more difficult to
keep matches from being fixed, which
means that eventually gambling
corruption could interfere with the
natural order of the sports.
They say that without the input from the
online casinos their jobs will be much
harder if not impossible. They say that
the offshore online casinos are less
than forthcoming with them and they
don’t want to lose the ability to keep
it running without outside influences.
They point to the recent tennis scandal
and said that without the cooperation of
the online casino community they would
never have found the culprits.
