Online Casino News:
No More Free Rides

For a long time those online casinos
that have taken up residence in Costa
Rica have had a pretty good time of it.
They have been able to live there and
pretty much do whatever they want. They
have been untaxed, unregulated, and free
to be whatever kind of online casino
that they choose to be – and offer their
services to pretty much whoever they
wanted to.
But this is not the case anymore. Now
Costa Rican officials say that they are
missing out on a large amount of revenue
right in their own country and therefore
they need to see if they can get a part
of that. They have prepared a plan that
would regulate and tax the online casino
industry, and if all goes well they
would be looking at somewhere around
$100 million in revenue for the country.
Many online casinos are not happy about
this as they say that they chose the
country based on their lack of rules,
regulations and taxation. They say that
to bring it in now is false advertising
– and they are very upset. Upset enough
to leave? That is the real question –
there are many within the country that
say that they are going to start looking
to another country to put up shop – one
that has fewer to none rules and
taxation.
Officials say that there is a concern
that online casinos will leave, which is
why they are talking about it and seeing
if there is a happy sort of medium that
can be reached between the country and
the online casinos.
