Position

Many of the news wires were reporting
that American Express had decided to
start allowing online casinos to use
their services for their clients to be
able to open accounts with them. It was
thought that the credit card company
could be used to fund those accounts
that were located in the United Kingdom
but not in the United States. It was
speculated that they were gearing up for
use in the US if the UIGEA was to be
overturned.
However they have announced that this is
not the case and that their cards are
not to be used at online casinos
anywhere in the world. The company says
that they do not support the online
casino industry and those casinos that
are reporting that they can be used are
mistaken at best. Those companies have
not checked out whether or not they can
use the card for those transactions and
the company wants it known that they
will block all caught online casino
transactions.
They also said that they were aware that
some online casinos were using their
cards and submitting the expenses as
though they were for something else and
they want it to stop. They said that
they will not pay on any illegal
transactions and their accounts will be
suspended if they are caught.
Rome Casino has long reported that they
allow the card to be used, but they are
obviously putting it through as
something else. The company says that
their cards can not be used for any form
of gambling – whether at an online
casino or at a live event.
