According to evidence that has come up from the latest brain scans – our brain determines if we are going to have a proclivity for becoming a problem gambler. By using magnetic resonance imaging they could look at the neural activity during situations of anticipation vs. outcome, winning vs. losing, and correction of errors.

The Somatic Marker Hypothesis showed that gambling activities showed gambling decisions cause the brain activity to increase in the medial prefrontal cortex. This area of the brain has already been shown to be physically different in problem gamblers than in those without the addiction problem.

The anti-gambling activists say that online casinos should be illegal because they make people addicted to gambling. However, it makes no difference whether or not online gambling is legal, because they will still find ways to gamble – no matter where they are.
