Online Casino Gambling Must Be Regulated

Senator Alfonse D’Amato is the chair of the Poker Players Alliance and he says that the recent cheating scandal that has plagued the Kahnawake online casinos is simply what happens when you don’t make online gambling legal. D’Amato says that had the online casino sites been regulated, there would not have been a problem, and online poker players would have more confidence in the system.

Months ago, Absolute Poker and UltimateBet were both the victims of an online casino cheating scheme that left both sites under suspicion. The Kahnawake refunded all of the players’ money that was at the tables when the cheating took place, but that was all.

Many are wondering why they didn’t have to account for what happened, why they didn’t have to open their books for inspection, and why no one was charged with a crime. It is simple – online casino gambling is not regulated and therefore there isn’t really anyone to answer to.

This is an easy fix. If online casino gambling was legal then there would be checks and balances that are not in place right now. Not only that, but there would be a system of dealing with those that break the law at online casinos, and others would be deterred by the consequences.
