Man Arrested in Online Casino
Identity Case
Patrick Kalonji, from the
republic of the Congo, has been
accused of using his position
within BetOnSports to steal the
identities of those that come to
play the games at the online
casino. Kalonji has been
stealing the identities of the
online casino players for some
time now.
Kalonji worked for the online
casino, and was taking the
names, social security numbers,
and birthdates from the
accounts, and had taken more
than 150 of them already. He
would then take that information
and pass it on to other members
of the same ring who then used
it to illegally purchase things
online.
He has been arrested while in
Philadelphia and charged with
conspiracy to commit bank and
wire fraud. If he is found
guilty, he will face 30 years in
prison and a fine up to $1
million. They have not set bail
for Kalonji and some think they
may not.
The online casino ran out of
Costa Rica, and had employed
Kalonji in their credit card
department. The company has pled
guilty already to racketeering
charges and is cooperating with
federal prosecutors to assist in
their case against their
founder.
