April 7, 2009 Online Casino News:
Online Slot Machine Players
Being Penalized
With the passage of the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of
2006, or the UIGEA, there has been a lot
of talk about legalizing online casino
gambling again. However, it depends on
who you talk to in order to determine
which group has been hit the hardest. We
hear a lot these days from the Poker
Players Alliance and various groups that
are responsible for protecting poker
players, but we don’t hear much from the
other types of online casino gambling.
The slot machine players are feeling
especially hurt. They have no one to
really represent them and they feel as
though every day that the UIGEA stands
that they are losing millions of dollars
in jackpots that they could be eligible
for. They say that the majority of those
online casinos that are offering the big
payouts are not offering them to US
players, and therefore they are being
shut out of the industry.
They say that in the past few days more
than 65 online casino jackpots have been
hit. They say that these jackpots were
worth more than a million dollars, and
that is money that they should have had
access to. They understand that just
because they have access doesn’t mean
that a US player would have won them,
but it automatically disqualifies them
being in the US.
They said that it is upsetting because
you know that there are still online
casino players that are playing at
online gambling, but they are doing it
at unregulated an online casino which
makes it unsafe for them to be playing
there. But faced with the alternative of
not playing at all, they would rather
take the chance at losing everything.
