April 28, 2009 Online Casino News: Bodog is Back

For those of you who have been watching the Bodog debacle and wondering when Bodog.com might come back – if ever – your waiting days are over! Bodog, and more specifically Morris Mohawk, has settled their lawsuit with 1st Technology LLC by agreeing to a resolution on all outstanding litigation.

Morris Mohawk is a Kahnawake based online casino group that operates the Bodog online casino. The Bodog brand was created by Calvin Ayre, who was first sued by the Technology company in 2007 in Seattle. They claimed that the online casino was using unauthorized technology from the company and seized several domain names including Bodog.com. This lead Ayre to change the brand’s name to BodogLife.com until the mess was sorted out.

1st Technology claimed that the online casino was using their “Method And System For Interactively Transmitting Multimedia Information Aver A Network Which Requires A Reduced Bandwidth While Operating In The US” patent without permission. They claimed a $48 million uncontested judgment against the online casino for the infraction.

With the settlement, Morris Mohawk can now reopen Bodog.com which is great for the online casino because many did not like the new site simply because of the way that it was all handled. Many felt like Bodog should have been able to remain at the Bodog.com site, and now they will be getting their wishes granted. Ayre said that he was aware that the case had been settled but that he was not aware of the details of it. He said that they were asked to keep them confidential and he is honoring that request.
