Canadian Gaming Board Looking for True Winner
Tuesday, October 26th, 2010There are some more problems for gambling. one of the main arguments anti-gambling activists have is that they believe that gambling will inevitably bring in more crime and corruption. They state that if people are fully aware of the huge dollars available, they may be more than willing to take a chance at making some of it. Even though the activities are illegal, they could be blinded by the promise of a few “easily gotten” hundred-thousand dollars or so. Anti-gambling activists state that the price tags on illegal activities and gambling are just too big for people to ignore. There has been a rise in illegal activities. One is the latest happening in Canada. Police are looking for the proper owner of a winning lottery tickets. The tickets total up to just over CND 12 million. That is a huge payout that has yet to find its rightful owner. Police are looking and trying to sort through the lottery scandal. The owner of the store that sold the tickets tried to steal it from its owner. It is proving to be a difficult task and putting a negative spin on Canadian lottery activity.
The problem is that this isn’t the first illegal activity to be show in the Canadian market of lottery gaming. The winning ticket was won in 2003 and that is making it difficult for police to hone in on the rightful owner. Because it is so far back, it is hard to find the person. Police are calling on the public to help with any information they have. The ticket was purchased at a video store in St. Catherine’s but was validated in a different location of Burlington. The convenience store owner and his son did their job in validating the tickets, but then didn’t hand it back to the owner. They tried eventually to cash the tickets in themselves. Now police have a lot to sort through. It may take time to find the rightful owner—if he or she is ever located. Hopefully with the help of the public some one will know something and turn the right owner onto his or her winning ticket.
