Using Basic Betting Systems to Wager

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Blackjack has gained a lot of notoriety over the years and is one of the most popular table games available at any casino you visit. If you are perfecting your game, there are a few things to remember. First of all, there are a lot of strategies out there regarding blackjack. If you decide on one, you are going to have to give yourself some time to really learn it. You also want to see if it really is the system that is best for you. The easiest and most cost-effective thing to do is to find a “free play” online casino and test yourself. See how well you do with the system and no wager. Once you feel comfortable with the system you choose, then you can start moving to a real-money casino, land-based or online. Once you have mastered blackjack basic strategy, you can then begin using a “wagering” or “money-management” system. But the player should remember that if he is going to use these systems, it is necessary to have the determination to follow it.

One of the most popular systems works like this: the player wagers a fixed amount on each hand, with no regard for the previous hands. By doing this, the player will, over time, lose no more that the casino edge against him which is less than 1% if he knows basic strategy. According to basic statistics, in the short-term players are more likely to lose one hand more than win one hand. In the long-term picture, those small losses and wins are equalized and the player theoretically will lose less than 1% of his hands played throughout the duration of his gaming session.

A great advantage is that this basic system doesn’t need a big bankroll to fuel it. For example, the Martingale system of wagering has gained a lot of steam over the years, but it requires that the player has enough money to keep on increasing wagers. The basic strategy doesn’t. It’s a great place to start and if you are looking for a wagering system that can start you off on learning to work with them, test out the basic strategy.

Then There is the Progressive-5 Bankroll System

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

When you go to a casino you don’t want to lose, but the system is set up so that you inevitably do. Sure you may have a small win here and there, but overall, you most likely will be walking away with a loss. There are systems to help you overcome that though. Here is one called the Progressive-5 bankroll system. This system is based on a 1, 2, 3, 5, 1 progression (another popular one – 1, 2, 3, 6, 1). For example: a $5 player who uses this system should bet $5, 10, 15, 25 and then $5 again. If the hand loses the player will go back to the original $5 bet.

Progressive-5-level is most successful when many hands win and does not hurt the player if he loses lots of hands as well. For example, you put a $5 starting bet and if your first 3 hands lose but the next three win, you would be ahead with $15 after 6 played hands. However, the system fails if certain sequences, like: win, loss, win, loss, win, loss happen. In this case, it would be better to make an equal bet each hand. Nevertheless, there is a risk when you take attempts to earn from 3 winning streaks or even more. In fact, in spite of the involved risk, the risk is minimal when the player uses a basic strategy and makes an equal bet on each hand. Online blackjack implies winning streaks and also losing streaks, so when using the progressive betting systems you may enhance your chances of profits. This system will increase the player’s profits on winning streaks and minimize them on losing ones. Overall, it is a system the outcome of which will vary unpredictably from a net profit to a net loss depending on how the cards come out.

Test out this system and a few others. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. A lot of choosing depends on your particular playing style and how much you want to put into the wager. Some people like to just set a bankroll and see what happens. Others like the possibility of affecting their outcome with various strategies and models. If you are one of the latter, test out the progressive-5 system and see if it works for you.

The Progressive-2 Bankroll Management System

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

When it comes to managing your bankroll, there are quite a few systems out there. Remember that the single most important aspect of gambling is to know when to stop. Casinos are built to encourage you to continue wagering- the lights, the specials and the opulence are all contructed strategically to over come you with excitement. They are hoping that you wager– and wager big! To fight against that, you have to be smart. When you walk into a casino, you have to know what their ulterior motive is. Sure you will get free drinks as long as you keep playing– it only brings them more money. Sure you will get various comps– it only makes you like their casino more. Sure you will see all kinds of luxury– it only makes you want it and test your hand over and over again in the chance to win it!

The key to not losing too much when gambling is to set a strict bankroll before you even enter the casino. Setting a limit at the casino probably won’t happen so you need to figure out well before you go there what you are going to limit yourself to. Remember to only wager what you can afford to lose over time. The house always wins and that means that your chances of walking away with cash just aren’t that great. When it comes to managing a bankroll, there are some systems to use. One is the Progressive-2 system and here is how it works.

The Progressive 2 system is one of the simplest options.  With progressive 2 a player decides on a max and a minimum amounts for bets. The player makes the smaller bet after a loss, and the larger one after a win. For example, you choose $5 as a minimum bet and $15 as a max amount. You start with the smaller amount. If you win you bet $15 and then continue to wager $15 until you lose. After the loss you go back to the minimum bet of $5. This is a really simple strategy, but it is considered an advanced betting system. After some practice this system maximizes his profits on winning streaks and minimizes them on losing ones. The catch is when a player always makes the larger wager on the losing hands. And overall, the outcome a 100-hand session that is played by the progressive-2 will depend on how the cards have come out. If the player has often the winning streaks, he will come ahead. But, the belief that streaks happen with certain regularity is superstition.

Two Blackjack Betting Systems to Test Out- Part 1

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

One of the ways to keep wagering exciting is to use various types of betting systems. There are many different systems to try and you’ll surely come up with some you like more than others. The great thing about gambling is that there are so many different options to choose from in terms of games, wagers, bets and betting systems. Two great systems to test out are the Paroli system and the D’Alembert system. Each one has its own rules and you should test each one to see what works best for your style of gaming. Here are the details on each.

Speaking of the Paroli System of betting, there is also the Parlay system, which is also known at the “Let it Ride” system. This is a positive progressive system very similar to the Paroli system.  The goal in this system is to pyramid your profits. It is a good idea to use Parlay in combination with the basic strategies to take the full advantage of your playing potential. When using the Parlay, if the player wins his next bet is made up of his winnings and the initial bet and does the same on each following winning hand. If he loses he returns to his initial bet.

Here is an example of how to use Parlay. The player playing at blackjack table puts an initial bet of $10. He wins, which means he is paid $10 on his $10 bet plus his original bet. According to the Parlay, he uses his win of $10 and his original bet of $10, so he makes the bet of $20 on the next hand. If he continues winning, then he keeps increasing the wager accordingly. Once he loses, he then regresses back to the original bet. Using the Parlay the player has to set a strict bankroll before beginning wagers. The negative thing about this betting system is that a streak of luck can end and a large bet can be lost if only the player quits before he is ahead. It takes some patience to work with any system so give it a chance to truly test it out.

Part two coming next.

How the Martingale Betting System Works

Monday, March 1st, 2010

When it comes to betting systems, there are a few styles that prove lucrative. The Martingale betting system is one of the oldest systems around and has proven its validity over the years. It is a negative progression system that is based on the probability of losing an infinite number of times. Normally it is applied to even money types of bets.

You start by betting 1 unit. Every time you win a bet, you start all over again with 1 unit. If you lose the bet, you double the betting amount. Continue to double each bet you lose until you finally win a bet. When you finally win a bet, you start back over with the original betting amount of 1 unit. The virtue of this betting system is that it guarantees you a profit of one unit when you finally walk away with a win. It manages to turn your small wager into a profit. The only way you lose completely is if you continue to lose an infinite number of times. Since this is highly unlikely that you won’t have at least one win, this is very difficult to do.

For example, if you are playing blackjack and start off slow at $1 per hand, then this is how your gaming will go. If you lose your first bet, your next wager will be $2. If you lose the second bet, your third bet will now be $4. If you lose your fourth bet, then your next bet is $8. If you finally win, then you get paid $8. Overall you lost $1 plus $2 plus $5 in wagers so you netted $1. Once you win that $1, you start the negative progression all over again.

So is this the right system for you? If you are playing blackjack, then the Martingale system is most likely not the best one. To use the system you have to be armed with a large bankroll due to the heightened bets as you continue to lose. When it comes to blackjack having continuous loses is not unusual. That means that the Martingale system won’t be effective. Be careful with the system and be sure you have a strong enough bankroll to test it out with games that offer good odds. This way you can take advantage of the wins and not lose your entire bankroll early on in your gaming session.

Understanding The Labouchere Betting System

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Here we go again with another system that poses to affect the outcome of gambling. This one is based on mathematics again and has some validity. The Labouchere betting system is also referred to as “Cancellation”, “Crossout”, “Labby”, and “Split Martingale”. This blackjack betting system is considered to be a negative progression system. The way the system works is relatively simple and here is the breakdown.

First we begin by writing down a series or set of random numbers such as 1 2 3 4 5 6. This set of numbers doesn’t have to be sequential and can be short or long. For example, the set of numbers 1 3 7 2 1 8 would also work. The choice of the set of numbers you choose varies depending on what game you are playing and what the odds are of the specific game you are playing. This is oftentimes difficult to gauge, but it is necessary to use the Labouchere system. Every number in the list created is indicative of the amount of chips to be wagered. Add the first and last numbers in the series and that is the amount of chips that will be bet. If you win the bet, then eliminate the first and last numbers in the series. Once you get through the entire set of numbers, you complete the entire cycle and can start over with numbered series to work off of.

On the other hand if you lose, then you write the number you were betting at the end of the series of numbers. You tack on a new number to your betting series for every bet you lose. The main advantage in using the Labouchere betting system is that you always turn a profit after cycling through your entire betting series by winning all bets. Overall it is a good system to follow and like others that prove effective, it is based on mathematical principles. Though there are some systems that are not effective and are based on notions or hunches, those that are based on mathematics are normally valid. Though they can’t guarantee a win, they can assure that you’ll lose the least amount of cash during your gambling session.

The Let it Ride or Parlay Betting System

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Gaming strategy is an old concept. Consistently over the years people have tried to formulate ways of gaining an edge in gambling. Gambling has been around for years and people have spent their entire lives trying to come up with ways of beating the system. Though gambling is random and based on luck and chance, many people believe that math plays a huge role in gambling.

One method is referred to as parlay or the “Let it Ride” betting system.  The parlay is a positive progression betting strategy which is similar to the Paroli system. The Parlay betting strategy is one of the oldest forms of wagering and it was originally derived from the same concepts that banks use to compound interest. This system is commonly used in horse race betting. This simple and efficient system covers the flaws of the Martingale system. The basic design follows the concept of pyramiding. That is a method where wagering an original bet plus the original winnings are put down for future bets. To utilize this system properly, you have to start making bets of any size. If you win, you put the original bet and part of the profit back down to bet again. For example, if you are playing at a $5 – $100 limit casino blackjack table. Let’s say that you are feeling lucky and begin with the maximum bet of $100. You are a dealt a blackjack and are paid 3:2 on your money which is a $150 net profit in addition to getting your $100 initial bet back. In the parlay betting system, you are working on a pyramid-based concept so you have $250 to wager with on your future bets. That $250 is made up of your initial $100 bet plus the additional $150 profit from the initial bet.

So if you are wondering if the parlay system should be used during your gaming, remember that overall it is a moderately risky strategy. You also can combine the parlay system can be combined with other strategies to maximize your win.Overall, you should play with various strategies and see which ones work best for your style and choice of gaming. It is important to know how you play and then make the right decision for your gaming skill and style.

Understanding the Paroli Betting System

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

In the world of gambling there are many  methods offered. Just spend any amount of real time in a casino— land-based or virtual– and you’ll surely be hit with more than a few “experts” who want to sell you their sure-fire scheme to win big. The reality is that most are not valid. Remember that gambling is gambling for a reason– the unknown outcome. Sure there are some games that are more accepting of strategy, but a lot of games just are based on pure luck. No strategy or method is going to affect the outcome.

There are some strategies though. The ones that are based on mathematics are proven. One example is the positive progression system. It is considered to be the opposite of the Martingale System and it’s called the aParoli betting system. In it you start betting with one unit. If you win the first bet, then you increase your bet on the next wager. To use the Paroli system you need to first create an overall betting plan before you begin playing. Decide exactly how far you are going to increase your bets to until you start the system over again. OF course this all depends on which type of game you are playing and what kind of odds you are getting at the game.

For example, if you are playing at an online blackjack table and have $100 sitting in front of you, you need to make some decisions. If you have decided to use the Paroli strategy and you are starting your bets at $2 each, then you place your first bet at $2 and your second bet at $4, etc. You double your wager each time you win. This increases your bet and your win, hopefully. If you continue to win, you’ll have a bigger payout than if you had played conservatively and kept your initial bet for your consecutive wagers. When it comes to the Paroli betting system, once you reach your third bet you stop and return back to your $2 wager throughout the rest of your gaming session.

The advantages of the Paroli system is that it doesn’t require a large bankroll to start. Some other systems require a hefty initial bet that is repeated throughout the game. The Paroli system isn’t like that so almost anyone can start playing using it.  This betting strategy is generally considered the most stable type of betting compared to other systems.

Systems of Betting- Part 1

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

In the world of gambling there have been many theorists who over the years have tried to come up with strategies that increase the chance of wins. Or at minimum, they have tried to find a way to increase their chances and diminish the house’s edge. Some of the most mathematically gifted people in history have worked tirelessly to find a system of beating the house. Pascal was one mathematician who worked on a wagering theory. He was interested in probability and dedicated his life to its study. Einstein was another scientist interested in the game. He spent a lot of time studying roulette wheels.  His statement on the wheel was, “The only way to beat Roulette is to steal the money when the dealer’s not looking.” He was trying to say that after careful study, there was no real mathematical way to overcome the house’s natural edge. The only studies that have proven available are gambling systems. These are systems that are based on raising and lowering bets. Most of these systems fall into two categories; a negative betting progression, or a positive betting progression.

A negative progression system calls for you to increase your bets after a loss. Though this may seem contrary to your natural inclination, the hope is that you can quickly return to even after a win. These systems can be detrimental to your bankroll because you can end up losing it after a relatively short period of time if you are not lucky and start losing. One negative progression system that has cropped up is the Martingale method where you are instructed to double your bet after each loss. Although it hasn’t proven very effective, there are still some people who jump to use it in a losing situation.

Then there is the positive progression game. In this one, you increase your bet when you are winning and then decrease your bet to the minimum when you lose. If you are going to try any type of betting system, you should only try a positive progression. With a positive progression you can not get wiped out by a series of losses. This one will extend your gaming session too. Unlike the negative progression where you can get wiped out quickly, this one gives you a longer play time.

Part two coming next.
