Sports Betting Offers Good Gaming Fun

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

If you are looking for a new type of exciting wagering, consider getting in on some good sports wagering. Sports betting has been around for years now and it is growing more popular in the market. One of the biggest events of the year is the NFL and thousands of football lovers come together to put their own wagers on the games. The NFL as a result has voiced their disapproval of sports wagering and has tried by all accounts to distance themselves from the world of gambling, until now. There are small signs that gambling may be moving into the world of football. If you look at the developments as of late there are some corporate sponsors requesting advertising space on virtual casino gambling websites. This is a sign that the market is shifting because these are the same companies that sponsor big-name NFL teams. This could be a sign of how things are going to change and how the NFL may open its doors to sports wagering if the dollars are big enough. For a long time now the NFL has held out on allowing or condoning sports wagering due to the fact that owners of teams believe it would cause players to fix games or act illegally.

Still, there is a huge base for sports betting and gamers everywhere are coming together to wager on different teams. They want to get in on the NFLs excitement with their own money placed against teams, players, outcomes and showdowns. The market is continuing to develop and you can expect in coming years that there will be more and more sports betting activities coming into the market. You aren’t going to have to keep on wagering to see the changes—most likely you will be able to watch the developments within the NFL. Once owners of teams see how large the numbers are and how much profit is to be had, most likely they will change their minds on some level for the world of gambling. Remember that the US is also playing with rules to legalize and regulate gambling and that should change it for every market—including football.

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

One of the biggest changes in the market of online gambling is the various affiliations that are happening left and right. More and more companies are seeing their true value in joining with other already established companies to double their markets and resources. This is one tactic that is helping companies to make a big push in the market and built their own roster of clients more readily. It is a great way to pool the power and make a bigger market. Now UB.com and GPLnow.com are joining forces to team up and take on the growing market. The companies have signed into a sponsorship deal. UB.com just signed on to be the official sponsor of the company. GPLnow.com is the host of the famous Global Poker League, or GPL. This is the largest international poker league that is operating and has a reputation for greatness in the market already. The GPL partnership with UB.com most likely will only allow UB gamers to access the world community of gamers. This is a great way to keep on building skill. Any good poker gamer knows that part of the big draw of gambling at the poker table is that they have control over the games and fun that is out there. Poker players also know that their benefits to the market are the games that they can hone their own skill on. This is why it is so important to play with various gamers. This opens the door for them to continue to grow as players and win more prizes in the process.

GPL players who have already registered via the UB.com website can now get in on the various Sit and Go tables that are happening. The cost to get in on these events is anywhere from $1 to $11 in buy-in. This makes them highly affordable and any gamer should be able to find a game that fits into their bankroll. Players can wager then for the leader board positions and increase their own wins with a good showing. Overall this is set to provide gamers with an even better experience and more possibilities at the poker table.

NFL Changing Its Tune on Betting

Friday, August 13th, 2010

It is no secret that the US is in the midst of changes to the gambling market. if you look at the rise in online gambling’s popularity throughout the states, you are going to find millions of players who are now engaging in various online games. This includes poker, slots, video slots, backgammon, baccarat, roulette and bingo. Whatever game you play in a land-based casino you are going to find online these days. Due to that huge rise in popularity, many legislators have their eyes on the huge dollars available. Barney Frank has been instrumental in the US trying to rewrite laws and bills that would replace the UIGEA, or Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. This law has been used to deny online gambling’s legality for the past four years but has proven to be ineffective to handle the public interest in gambling online.

Frank has taken it upon himself to focus on the issue. He created a proposal to amend the UIGEA and legalize and regulate gambling in the states. In particular he is hoping that the new law will sort out the NFLs former denial of allowing sports betting into the league. The amendment is called HR2267. This is an amendment that prohibits organizations that are licensed under the proposal from engaging in sports betting. The only exception is horse racing. The NFLs VP Brian McCarthy said that the organization does not directly oppose the HR2267 amendment because its lingo has been altered a bit. The amendment has been altered to cater to former hang-ups that opposing companies and organizations had.

For the past few years the NFL has stood strong against sports betting and wagering in general due to the influence it had over the sport. Organizers believed that if sports betting was legalized it would cause players to act dishonestly within the sport and sully its good name. Though there still may be growing pains to overcome, many believe that this first move to amend the UIGEA is a great start for change. They are hoping that this is the beginning of a new era of legalized and regulated gambling within the US and the world of gambling.

Women’s Poker League Begins

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

It is no secret that more and more women are gambling these days. A recent study proved that they are the ones who are logging into the online casinos with the most frequency. In fact, women are the largest jump in the online market in the past eight months. Though the market first began by targeting young male adults, it now is opening up to a wider variety of people who want to gamble from the privacy of their own homes. Namely it is poker that is the game of choice for women. Remember that poker began somewhat unassumingly in the market way back. It was almost forty years ago that the WSOP first began humble. In fact, it was just six players who loved the game trying to create a great poker-oriented event to enjoy. Now, it has grown to be a huge event in the market. Millions of players vie for a place at the tournament via satellite tournaments throughout the world. The WSOP awards table winners in various styles of games millions of dollars in payouts and of course the much-coveted WSOP bracelets. The progression of poker in the market has been exponential in itself.

Now, the website PokerStars.com is diversifying. It is creating specials for certain markets and hoping that the new interest in poker will continue. The website just announced the creation of the Women’s Poker League. This is a live women-oriented poker community that is stocked full of various specials, bonuses and tournaments. Women from all over the world can log in and play the games—namely the tournaments are what are creating a huge buzz in the world of gambling. The website is offering a high-return point system for any women who join and log in. that means that they can earn more rewards and special gifts. It is a great time to join in on the gambling fun because of the huge range of prizes that the company has come up with. Don’t forget that prior to this new league’s creation, PokerStars.com was already a well-established casino in the online world and that means that it knows well how to serve its customers.

Premier League Football Win

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

The winner has been crowned in Barclay’s Premier League table.  It was London side Tottenham Hotspur who were the real winners despite not being involved in mid-week action. Last standing from the 8 teams, Harry Redknapp’s men were instead involved in FA Cup action against an in-form Fulham – and as if a 3-1 win and Wembley semi-final date weren’t enough, a perfect night for Tottenham was completed by the news that their nearest rivals had dropped points. North London started the day in fourth place. Spurs knew that a win for Manchester City would see them pushed down to fifth – but Roberto Mancini’s men failed to deliver as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat to a resurgent Everton side as Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta got the goals. The win is a good report for the team and means that the future is only brighter for all players who worked hard for it.

Aston Villa fought hard from the bottom as well. Aston Villa, but on being presented with the chance to close the gap on Spurs to just two points, Martin O’Neill’s men also blew the opportunity as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Sunderland after John Carew cancelled out Fraizer Campbell’s opener. Although neither team played even a minute of Premier League football last night, Tottenham remained as they were in fourth place – two-points clear of Manchester City and four points ahead of Liverpool, who have played a game more – to ensure that they were the game week’s biggest winners by far. After yesterday Chelsea moved ahead of Arsenal in second place.  This stemmed from their convincing 5-0 demolition of rock-bottom Portsmouth. Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda bagged a brace apiece and Frank Lampard rounded off the scoring to move the Blues within one point of Manchester United on equal goal-difference. In the last game of the day Blackburn Rovers battle to a deserved 2-1 win over Alex McLeish’s Birmingham at Ewood Park. David Dunn got both Rovers goals either side of James McFadden’s second-half strike to move Sam Allardyce’s team up to 11th. Be sure to check back for the excitement.

Upcoming Premium League Games

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

This will be the week to watch for the Barclays Premier League games.  At the top, title contenders Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal face a formative few days, with the league leaders facing fifth-placed Liverpool, the Blues traveling away to both Blackburn and Portsmouth and Arsene Wenger’s men having to prepare for another London derby against struggling West Ham.  Chelsea has the most to gain if they can deliver on the road.  Only in need of two wins taking them back to the Premier League’s summit regardless of other results. However, with northern rivals United and Liverpool in action, manager Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping for dropped points. Only time will tell whether or not it will happen because of the opposition standing against the changes. In the end it may be hard to gauge what changes it brings about in the world of league gaming.

Arsenal’s day is coming up and will be held against West Ham.  This would give them the chance to capitalize on any slip-ups by their title rivals, but though Gianfranco Zola’s team are fighting for Premier League survival, they have a good record at the Emirates and will be looking to cause another upset here – though with Cesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky both back in the team, Wenger will fancy his side’s chances of victory here. In fourth place, Tottenham Hotspur face a difficult trip away to Stoke, while rivals Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa all have double game weeks. With home games against Wolves and Sunderland, one has to fancy Villa to make up ground here and with City and Everton facing each other, it could all shift around in the top third. By tomorrow morning we’ll have a much clearer picture of how the remainder of the season is likely to pan out as the Barclays Premier League reaches its business end in April. For anyone who loves wagering on games, this could be the perfect time to get in on the gambling fun. This is a huge event and should offer a lot of excitement for people wanting to change up their wagering habits.

Annual New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference Begins

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

New Jersey officials congregated in Atlantic City recently for the Annual New Jersey League of Municipalities conference. Over 20,000 officials and appointed government came together to participate in various seminars and discussions by day and gamble and have fun by night. The conference is a 4-day long event that is highlighted by a dual appearance by Republican Governor elect Chris Christie and lame duck Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine. Each one is set to deliver a keynote speech for the attendees.

League Executive Director William Dressel said his job is to construct an educational program for attendees and to “provide my elected officials with the tools they need” to run local government. “I’m only responsible for what happens between 9 o’clock and 5 o’clock. For every hour in that normal workday, it is chock full of education workshops, clinics.” Dressel’s words are aligned with what every one knows about the event. Sure there are tons of learning seminars and developmental tools for everyone to use, but after 5pm almost everyone is there to party, gamble and have fun.

Former Governor James E. McGreevey described the convention as “really just a huge frat party” in his autobiography.  It was where former Hudson County Executive Robert C. Janiszewski took a $5,000 bribe from an FBI informant, and later turned informant.

He was brought down by the office of then-U.S. Attorney Christie, who later led a league seminar on ethics with Attorney General Anne Milgram and warned local officials against participating in similar acts. He told them if “someone approaches you with an envelope of cash looking for some kind of favor from you” in Atlantic City, “it’s probably us.” Dressel said he expects less partying and antics this year, in part because the dismal economy has cut into hotel bookings.  “Quite frankly, (municipal officials are) looking for a lot of answers and insight on how to govern in these tight economic times,” he said.

The seminars are built around topics like the economy, budgets, foreclosures, “going green,” and the impact of federal stimulus dollars. “There’s a lot of good info,” said Kevin Duffy, mayor of Hardwick Township, Warren County. Lester Lewis-Powder, a Maplewood committee member, acknowledged some may think the convention is a time for local officials to live it up in Atlantic City on the taxpayers’ dime. “I paid my entire bill myself to avoid that,” he said of his room at the Borgata hotel. More than a dozen parties were scheduled at hotel and casino restaurants and ballrooms, hosted by state lawmakers, local officials and the contractors they do business with.  Sure there is fun afterhours, but there is enough educational material and instruction to truly make a difference in the politicians’ individual municipalities if they focus on it.
