New York Concerned About their Lottery

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

There are more changes in the gambling industry in the US. This time it is the state of New York that is seeing issues to deal with regarding gambling. It has been years now that that state has relied on its state-run lottery to fund various programs. Everything from education to expansion and other public works programs is funded in part or totally by their lotteries. Over the years lotteries have proven to be highly lucrative due to their draws. The state has been happy with its lottery performance and is doing all it can to protect that industry. Now the state legislators are worried that the rise in online gambling could impinge on the funds they rely on to sustain various programs. There are millions of dollars available with lotteries and if people start channeling that into gaming companies rather than the state, this could seriously cut back on the state’s budget. There are few other options that could potentially replace it.

New York legislators have an added concern—neighboring states’ competition. Now that Maryland, Delaware, Maine and Pennsylvania all have their own gambling initiatives in place, this too could cut down on people testing their luck in the lotteries. Add the neighboring state’s competition and online gambling to the mix, and it could spell disaster for the state. So what are they going to do? There is no official plan on what to do, but state officials are bracing for some dip in revenue when it comes to their lotteries. They are hoping that dip will be swift and will return to normal quickly, but if it doesn’t there is no current contingency plan to speak of. Lotteries traditionally have been highly lucrative, but now that competition is entering the market left and right, state legislators are not so sure that it will be able to sustain itself over the long term. Only time will tell if it is going to be alright and if people are going to continue to take their chances at the state-run lottery. If not, it could pose a serious problem for the state to deal with and they may have to increase their own land based and online gambling plans to supplement.

Using Neteller for Online Accounts

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

If you are an online gambler you may be in search of e-wallet solutions. An e-wallet is a place to store cash when you want to deposit to or withdraw from an online casino gambling account. They are growing in popularity due to changing rules legislators are making in the market. Right now, for example, the US deems online gambling as illegal. Therefore banks cannot accept transactions directly related to the hobby. So what are the ways around this? The most viable one in the market is to use an e-wallet. There are tone of companies out there today that have stepped into the hole in the market. One is Neteller. This is a company that gives all gamblers an online payment solution. It is quick and convenient—just the thing you want when you are online looking for a great pastime like gambling. Neteller offers you the ability to withdraw and deposit money—of course you should make sure it is legal in your jurisdiction, but overall if it is it is a great tool for any gamer.

The best thing about Neteller is that it is free to open an account and you can use your debit card, Visa card, electronic funds transfer, bank deposit or InstaCash option for funding. The other great thing about the service is that your money will be available a lot faster than it would with other online options. The Neteller express account is actually the simplest one to open. You want to check what the limit is in your jurisdiction too; some areas are pretty strict with how much you can deposit and withdraw at one time. These rules can be different for neighboring counties and cities, so be sure to make sure you are within the limits. Another option is the Neteller extended account. This one is for people who know they need a higher-limit on their accounts. You can also get a prepaid debit card option with this one and you can transfer money from user to user within the Neteller system. If you have an express account, you can easily upgrade to the extended account. Overall Neteller is a great option for online money transfer. The company has proven its worth with millions of dollars of successful transfers so far.

Funding an Online Gaming Account

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

If you are new to online gambling then you know that to play you have to have some funding option. One of the most convenient ways of doing this is to use credit cards. It is a secure way to put funds in an online casino account. If you do use this option, you can be up and playing within minutes. On the other hand, if you use a check it can take a few days for it to clear. You have to either relegate yourself to playing the free-play games or just come back a few days later when the funds hit your account. By far credit cards are the most convenient and speedy way to get to gaming immediately. There is one glitch though: credit card companies have long been in a debate over how to manage gambling transactions. The credit card companies are highly regulated by the US and they have to be careful with any transactions that are gambling related. In fact most gambling transactions are denied with the exception of transactions related to racing and state-run lotteries.

There are problems with credit cards and gambling online these days. It is all due to the UIGEA, but things are soon to change most likely. The US is looking for legislation to amend the UIGEA or completely change it. Time will tell what changes are made in the end, but surely there are changes coming to the market quickly. If you find yourself having problems with using credit cards and gambling, the best thing to do is to try using a different card. Though one bank may deny the charges, another one may let it go through. If you still have problems, then the best thing to do is to look to alternatives to credit cards. There are some trustworthy e-wallet solutions in the market that are there for the express purpose of acting as an intermediary between betting companies and your funds. They will charge a small fee, but overall they are established and great ways to continue gambling online. Expect changes to come into the market and continue to alter the world of gambling. In a few months, gambling may be legal and that will completely turn around rules that credit cards have for gambling. Gambling is big business and without a doubt credit card companies are going to want in.

How Does Money Move Online?

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

If you are an online gamer no doubt you have at least pondered for a few minutes how money moves from one online entity to another. With the UIGEA of 2006, transactions have changed considerably. When it comes to the online world, things are in a difficult situation. Right now, all online casinos require you to deposit money up front before you can gamble. This will mean sending online casinos money via Western Union, Moneygram, cashiers checks, money orders, wire transfers, credit cards etc. Most of them will take money almost any way you want to send it. Most will not take personal checks due to the fact that they would have to wait up to two weeks for the checks to clear to the overseas location. You can normally use personal checks with prior approval from the casino, but your money will not be available for play until your check has cleared. Nearly all casinos now accept credit card deposits. In fact, these are highly recommended due to the low cost and speed of the transactions. All casinos operate on the account system – you send them money and your account is credited for that amount. As you gamble, money is credited or debited as you win or lose. When you wish to withdraw money from your casino account you can do so in nearly all of the ways that deposits could be made. Many operations now allow you to have money withdrawn directly placed back onto the Credit Cards that you first deposited money into your account with. This option is recommended as you can access your winnings within days. Casinos charge reasonable fees for other withdrawal options. There are lots of great places to play online poker and here is a list of links to reviews of the best poker rooms.

If you are going to venture into the world of online gambling, remember to check with your specific jurisdiction about what the rules and laws are. Remember that they are changing quickly at the US is looking to legalize and regulate online gambling. Keep safe and make sure that you are following the rules.

Test out PayPal for other Money Transfer Options

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Another great company to look into for money transfer is PayPal. The company was founded in 1998, and since that time it has become a leader in online payment solutions and is available in 190 countries and 18 currencies. The number of accounts has exceeded 150 million worldwide. The company received over 20 awards from the online industry and the business community. It is considered to be a safe, simple way to make online transactions. All financial operations are secured with the help of Secure Socket Layer technology with 128bit encryption, and it is also certified by Verisign Secured. Player’s account in the payment system is insured for $100,000 by SafeWeb Insurance against unauthorized money withdrawal.

The registration is free and easily explained on the PayPal site. You can choose from a few different types of PayPal accounts: personal account, premier account and business account. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages and choosing between them is a matter of figuring out what you need. You fund your PayPal through your bank account, it is absolutely free and it usually takes 3 – 4 business days if you use US bank account and 7 to 9 business days if you live in other country. PayPal personal account withdrawals are free of charge to your bank account but if you use a check withdrawal you have to pay a $1.50 fee in the US. Withdrawal takes up to 9 working days to post to your bank account and there is a minimum withdrawal limit, it all depends on your residence country. You can send and receive funds via a variety of options: PayPal Balance, Instant Bank Transfer, eCheque, credit/debit cards.  If the person who the money is sent to does not have a PayPal account he/she will be requested to open an account to get the funds. An unverified PayPal account has a sending limit. Sending and receiving money is free except that you use a credit/debit card in that case a certain fee is applied. There are also receiving limits that depend on the country you live.

That may seem like a lot of details to remember but PayPal is only as complex as you need it to be. For users who merely need to transfer cash, a personal account will suffice. On the other hand for small businesses that need to take credit cards, this is a great option. For a small fee that can be done. Overall PayPal is one of the most convenient ways to manage online funds.
