Bodog Commits to Donating to Haiti

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Online gambling company Bodog was founded back in 1994 by Calvin Ayre. The company has changed its vision periodically over the years though it has stayed true to its gambling roots. The company’s founder admits to trying to build a brand not unlike Richard Branson’s Virgin music company. The company has committed to helping the tragedy in Haiti. The company will be donating GPB 10,000 to the relief effort of the country. It also offered to match anyone involved in online gambling’s wagers up to $1 million.”

Ayre said, “It is a disaster in Haiti. I know they have had a tough go from Mother Nature recently, hurricanes and now this earthquake. I cannot help but be disgusted with the ruling elite that has driven this country down like this while, no doubt, filling their own pockets. That all said, the innocents as always are paying a horrendous price for this elite thievery, and I think the global online gaming community has a duty to do something.”

One thing that is for sure is that the gambling industry has been growing and brought in millions of dollars in revenues over the past few years. Despite problems other parts of the world have had, the industry of gambling has continued to grow and reap huge amounts of money. It’s so reliable that many governments are putting their hope in legalizing gambling and then using the money to manage the budgets. They believe so strongly in the industry of gambling and its ability to bring in money that they are ready to rely on it.

Many in the gambing community are working together to bring funds to various charities. Gambling is proving to be the most reliable option in the world of funding. The recession brought down the lending industry and the housing market crashed too. It’s difficult to find an indsutry that is impervious to the market but gambling is seemingly one of them. In fact, the billions of dollars available is causing a huge fight for money in states, county and local governments. It will take a few months for the laws to regulate themselves, but it looks like gambling will be the answer needed for many financial shortfalls.
